I have operated a Hong Kong company for 18 months. HSBC has been a nightmare and my accountant is terrible. I don’t know if I have been really, really unlucky or whether the Chinese really are just that bad at developing efficient systems and workflows.

Anyway, I am planning my return to the UK, having been away for six years and was wondering how straight forward it is to move a company from Hong Kong, to the UK. It also crossed my mind that there might be accounting benefits by doing so.

Does anyone have any knowledge on this?

You can’t move the company to UK, but you can start a new UK company and move all the business there.

and the “accounting benefits” would be that you don’t need to do an audit, and if you’re going to live in the UK it will be much easier and cheaper to run a UK company vs a HK company.
